HELIS _002: BACK HOME
ART DIRECTOR
Helis showcases their fashion design collection of 8 looks inspired by the exuberant world of casinos through their first-ever fashion film : BACK HOME.
For this video, I constructed a 72” diameter poker table as the central set piece for the models to gamble around. To echo the brand’s past use of astroturf in its bags and shoes, I surfaced the tabletop with the same material. I then lined the plywood structure with sections of pool noodles, shaping them into a sloping edge that mimics natural forms. To further enhance the organic aesthetic, I finished the table with touches of dirt, moss, and scattered flowers.
BACK HOME explores escapism in our hyper-connected society. Money and casinos—symbols of indulgence and overstimulation—serve as the mecca of distraction. This world is juxtaposed against the green, organic folds of the table, creating a surreal playhouse for the models to inhabit.
Glamour was a central keyword in my creative briefing for the video. Drawing inspiration from the ambiance and fashion of 1960s–70s casino life, I sourced props and set pieces to evoke that era. Cocktail glasses, champagne flutes, ashtrays, and ornate decorative plates—objects that radiated glitz and glamour—were carefully chosen to heighten the sense of indulgence and excess, reinforcing the themes of escapism and gluttony.
